Soup Kitchen Christmas

Soup Kitchen Christmas

Last week, we wrote about the importance of contribution at Christmas. Accordingly, this Christmas, after our Holiday Happiness Tour wraps up, The Minimalists are going to join some folks in Vancouver, BC, to volunteer our Christmas Holiday at a local food bank.

We have volunteered at similar spots back in our hometown (Dayton, Ohio). It is a rewarding experience every time we contribute.

You see, sometimes we have to contribute to help other people, but sometimes we need to contribute to help ourselves. When we step into our discomfort zones and contribute beyond ourselves, we grow, we experience the world in a different way, we gain new perspectives from which to be thankful.

If you’d like to join us in Vancouver, BC, we’ll be at Quest Food Exchange on 27 December 2012, 10 AM–3 PM. (UPDATE: You can see photos from our time at Quest Food Exchange here.)

If you can’t join us in VC, you can still join us by lending a hand at a local shelter or organization in your area. Don’t know where to go? The Shelter Directory is a good place to start.

Happy Holidays from The Minimalists. Get our essays for free via email.
